Technique for Building Digital Twins of Renewable Energy Sources
This paper presents a technique for building digital twins (DTs) for renewable energy systems. The proposed methodology includes ontological engineering to formalize domain knowledge, development of digital models based on mathematical representations, and their deployment in real-time or emulated data streams. The concept of a virtual environment is introduced for emulating the external characteristics of the physical space in which the object is located. An agent-service architecture of the digital twin is presented. The proposed approach also facilitates the transition toward "smart"digital twins by incorporating semantic modeling and machine learning techniques. A novel method multiscale ensemble modeling with dynamic selection based on environmental state (EnvSwitch) is proposed. © 2026 IEEE
