Expansion planning of active power supply systems
Consideration is given to the problems of active power system expansion planning. An analysis of content of these problems and the extent to which they are studied is presented. The expansion planning problem is represented by three successive stages: substantiation of a rational configuration of power supply system, complex optimization of the power supply system structure and parameters, considering different requirements, and research into the operating conditions. The research shows that the problems to be solved at the stage of the research on operating conditions of the future active power supply systems are the least investigated. The proposals are formulated to systematize the composition and content of such problems and provide information on the directions of their formalization. The examples of active electrical networks are presented. They demonstrate the concept of necessary measures. It is shown that the use of modern multifunctional switching devices in the distribution electrical networks, development of protection and emergency control systems, and the need to coordinate their operation changed the ideology of emergency control activities toward their automation by reconfiguring the electrical network and making it active in the sense of response to the equipment failures and emergencies. © 2017 IEEE.
