International Association “International Institute for Critical Infrastructures” (CRIS) was founded in the late 1990s as a platform for cooperation between the representatives of academia and industry dealing with the problems of critical infrastructures (electric power, pipeline, communication, transport, and other systems, as well as computer networks) in order to share experience and harmoniously integrate these technologies.
CRIS organizes technical conferences on topics related to critical infrastructures. Such conferences have already been held in Beijing (China), Alexandria (USA), Linköping (Sweden), Hanoi (Vietnam), and Berlin (Germany). CRIS also organizes workshops with invited participants on specific topics. Such workshops have taken place in Sweden, France, the USA, Germany, India, and Cyprus.
The 6th regular CRIS International Conference “Problems of Critical Infrastructures” was held on June 25-27, 2015 in Saint Petersburg, Russia jointly with the 6th International Conference “Liberalization and Modernization of Electric Power Systems”, which was organized in 2000 and has been held once every three years.

The International Conference on Electric Power System Problems IEEE Power Tech, the main conference of Region 8 (Europe, Africa, and Middle East) IEEE PES (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Power and Energy Society), took place in Eindhoven (the Netherlands) on June 28 – July 2, 2015.

An annual International Conference of the Asia-Pacific Energy Research Center (APERC), a meeting of the APERC Advisory Board as well as the APERC pre-Jubilee Symposium (a year before the 20th anniversary of the Center) were held on June 9-11, 2015, in Tokyo.

The next 6^th CRIS International Conference “Problems of Critical Infrastructures” will be held on June 25-27, 2015 in Saint Petersburg, Russia jointly with the 6^th International Conference “Liberalization and Modernization of Electric Power Systems”, which was organized in 2000 and has been held once every three years.

Janusz Bialek, Director of the Skoltech Center for Energy Systems, a well-known British expert in smart and renewable energy visited Irkutsk on October 20-21. The main aim of his visit was to get acquainted with the achievements of Irkutsk researchers and discuss the lines of further collaboration.
