New agreement for implementation of Research Cooperation with Korea Energy Economics Institute

On May 27, 2014 in Seoul Energy Systems Institute SB RAS and Korea Energy Economics Institute (the Republic of Korea) signed a cooperation agreement to conduct joint studies.

On behalf of Energy Systems Institute SB RAS the agreement was signed by the Director of the Institute, corresponding member of RAS Nikolai Voropai, and on behalf of Korea Energy Economics Institute – by the President of the Institute, Dr. Yang-Hoon Sonn.

The cooperation agreement implies that during the period of 2014-2016 Energy Systems Institute SB RAS and Korea Energy Economics Institute will carry out joint research aimed at the enhancement of energy security in both countries, implement energy cooperation projects, and collaborate to devise a long-term mutually beneficial energy cooperation strategy.

The two parties  agreed to pay special attention to the projects for energy infrastructure development and energy efficiency improvement in the regions of East Siberia and the Russian Far East.
Under the agreement, the Institutes will also continue to hold joint annual research workshops. The next workshop is planned for spring 2015.
