Energy Systems Institute SB RAS and the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA) signed a cooperation agreement

On March 27, 2014 in Tokyo Energy Systems Institute SB RAS and the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA), Niigata, Japan signed a cooperation agreement to conduct joint studies. On behalf of Energy Systems Institute SB RAS the agreement was signed by the Director of the Institute, corresponding member of RAS Nikolai Voropai, and on behalf of the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia – by the Director of the Institute Yoshiaki Nishimura.

The agreement implies that for the period of three years the organizations will collaborate to strengthen energy cooperation between the Russian Federation and Japan by carrying out joint research and arranging international conferences and workshops.

The agreement provides for the participation of the institutes in the development and implementation of mechanisms to undertake Russia-Japan energy projects. The parties agreed to actively cooperate within the framework of the Northeast Asian Gas and Pipeline Forum (NAGPF) and planned a meeting of the NAGPF Executive Committee for September 2014 in Irkutsk.

Special attention will be given to the projects for energy efficiency improvement in East Siberia, the Far East, and the whole Northeast Asia.
